Cards for Soldiers Project

I recently discovered a wonderful program run by a couple in Michigan. They call it the "Cards for Soldiers Project", and the two of them have been making and collecting cards to send to deployed and overseas troops for years. They take handcrafted greeting cards from any and everyone - Girl Scout troops to crafting clubs - package them up and send them overseas on their own dime. This is mostly done through fundraising and donations.

These cards end up in remote parts of Afghanistan, Kuwait, Korea, Europe, you name it, some of which have no telephone or internet service, and the military service members can use these cards to send to their families and loved ones.

The Cards for Soldiers Project (CSP) takes both handmade and hand signed cards, as well as craft supplies and monetary donations to make cards, and sends them to any Troops that sign up. It's a really interesting way to give back to those who are serving our country, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

I used to make Christmas cards for deployed service members as a Girl Scout, and our Leader would bring supplies and send off the cards. When I went off to college I never did anything but study, so the practice took a back seat for four years, but this year I got back into it. I've now sent "happy holidays" cards to the Cards for Soldiers Project and Military Missions Inc, and as CSP takes cards year-round, I plan to continue my contribution. What a fun way to be crafty and supportive at the same time.

If you or anyone you know might be interested, here is a link to the CSP Facebook page and their mailing address is:
