Co-developed and implemented course syllabus for weekly 2 hour classes, including daily activities, lectures, group discussions, film screenings, guest speaker presentations, and fieldtrips. Discussed topics such as Net Zero Energy and explored alternative methods of sustainable residential design, including hands-on work with Superadobe, Cobb, Hempcrete, Papercrete, and Natural Paint.

Responsible for the planning, teaching, coordinating, carrying out of activities, and guiding of campers ages 11 – 17 years as well as the supervision of two camp staff members. Responsible for the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities, and on trips away from the main camp. Co-developed and implemented program activities, planed and executed weekly schedules, and evaluated program and camp staff. Lead and assisted with the teaching of activities including Leave-No-Trace principles, provided necessary healthcare and first-aid, and provided for the daily care of each camper.

Helped university students develop, revise, and edit class writing assignments, résumés, and personal writings. Conducted individual and group sessions. Taught peers how to brainstorm, follow rubrics, correctly site information, and to utilize a variety of writing tools. Helped students prepare for exams such as the Graduate Writing Proficiency Exam and the English Portfolio. Worked with non-native speakers and foreign exchange students. Created student appointments, filled out personal and student evaluations to chart progress, answered phones, and cleaned work spaces. Abided by the tutoring code of ethics, assessed needs and abilities of peers, and created a tutoring plan and atmosphere appropriate to each student. Worked in teams with fellow Consultants whenever applicable, and attended and lead Studio meetings and trainings. Participated in hiring committee for new employees.

Conducted individual tutoring sessions for high school concurrent students attending college courses at Humboldt State University, ages 12 to 16 years old. Created individual lesson plans, helped mentees develop time management skills including timelines and goals, dictated tasks, and created assignments for mentees. Developed mentee’s use and knowledge of writing tools such as outlines, and an understanding of basic and advanced writing rules/standards. Monitored mentees grades and assignments in order to reach personal and parental goals, identified issues that needed attention, and evaluated the success of the student and tutoring program. Learned how to teach students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia.
