Camp Menzies, Girl Scouts Heart of Central California

Job duties:

   Responsible for the planning, teaching, coordinating, carrying out of activities, and guiding of campers ages 11 – 17 years (and younger as needed) as well as the supervision of two camp staff members. Responsible for the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities, and on trips away from the main camp. Co-developed and implemented program activities, planed and executed weekly schedules, and evaluated program and camp staff. Lead and assisted with the teaching of activities including Leave-No-Trace principles, delivered necessary healthcare and first-aid, and provided for the daily care of each camper.

   Menzies is a Girl Scout outdoor experience overnight camp that teaches girls and young women about themselves, about their environment (built and natural), and presents them with new experiences and challenges that require teamwork, cooperation, leadership, and creativity. Camp Menzies is located near Camp Connell, Ca in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and is part of the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California organization.

Camp activities include archery, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, writing, painting, cooking and meal planning, creating camp movies and newsletters, performing skits, interacting with/exploring nature, wilderness survival and first aid, fire safety, science (including STEM activities), and much more.
