The Toyon Staff has spent a lot of time this semester working on professionalization, part of which is creating a professional portfolio. I’ve done a bit of searching on the web to learn about what gets people interested when they click on a web bio, and a lot of web design is based on pleasing the eye of the audience. I’ve tried to do that here on my own website with a creative page header image that I also feel jives well with my personality. More images have been added throughout the page.
Example:

Specifically, I’ve looked at a photography portfolio by Jasmine DeFoore, linked here http://www.jasminedefoore.com/ . Her site is not as visually intriguing as I would expect from a photography site, but I think that may have something to do with showcasing her photographs and allowing her work to speak for itself. I do like her clear organization and easily identifiable sections on each page. I’ve changed my own portfolio up a bit in an effort to make more clear distinctions between sections. DeFoore’s website does a wonderful job of balancing professionalism with personality, and I hope that my own portfolio does as well (or at least that it’s getting there).
