I really admire the history behind the Toyon Literary Magazine, and all of the Humboldt State University students that have worked together toward a common goal. I hope as the Social Media Manager I can help spread the word about Toyon and it's rich history, increase the number of subscribers, and showcase the roles of students involved in the creation of the 2017 volume.
Beginning in mid-September after submissions are in, I plan to create a “featured staff member of the week” post to highlight the accomplishments of staff members. These posts will include a photo of the staff member, what they are working on for Toyon, and any accomplishments they wish to include.
It also might be interesting to do a few posts in a “where are they now?” section, to see what past staff or award winners have gone on to do after working for/being featured in Toyon. These posts could even discuss how Toyon helped them reach their goals or gave them great experience.
My Plan:
Week 3- Work on personal website
Week 4- Facebook post about approaching submission deadline
Week 5- Blog posts, Facebook post about approaching submission deadline
Week 6- Blog posts, Facebook post about final call for submissions
Week 7- Blog posts, begin reading/watching submissions
Week 8- Blog posts, review submissions, weekly social media posts, and create a Toyon Instagram page
Week 9- Blog posts, review submissions, and weekly social media posts
Week 10- Blog posts, weekly social media posts, and revamp the Toyon Twitter page
Week 11- Blog posts & weekly social media posts
Week 12- Blog posts & weekly social media posts
Week 13- Blog posts, work on semester news blast, and weekly social media posts
Week 14- Fall Break, work on semester news blast and research project
Week 15- Blog posts & research projects
Week 16- Blog posts, research projects, and finish semester news blast
